Was just on the way home from the doctors, waiting for the bus.
Noticed a man sitting on my right, his eyes speaks a different language,

then soon enough the indian girl (tt was sitting to his right) stood up and said in quite an audible volume
“My bus is here, I got to go.”
We know why.
A few moments later he turned to me and asked,
“可以帮我看 bus 吗?”
translated: “would you mind helping me watch out for the bus?”
I answered him:
“设么号码?”
translated: “what number?”
He said:
“963″
I didnt say anything.
then a short while later, again he turned to me and said:
“如果你的 bus 来了, 你先走没关系.”
translated: “if your bus is here, you can go first, its alright.”
I replied:
“um”
So I just sat there, keeping a lookout for his bus.
then I happen to reflect,
and I realize, I sounded really really hostile. especially with the scratchy throat…
Short and straight to the point reply + deep, low voice…
Its like, “tell me what you want straight + authoritative voice.”
Its like so unkind…
If I were him I’ll be thinking “dont want help, just say la… dont have to be so like that…”
Just nice a 963 across the road came and went.
So I turned to him and said:
“963 来了”
translated: “963 is here”
He replied (while getting his bag strap):
“Oh okie, 谢谢”
translated: “oh okie, thanks”
Then I stopped him by his left hand and said:
“可是是在对面的”
translated: “but its the one across the road”
he smiled together with me.
we just continued waiting…
then my bus came,
and left.
then he turned to me and said:
“bus 很难等”
translated: “Its very difficult to wait for the bus”
I replied:
“不难啊,坐着它就来了”
translated: “not difficult a, you sit here and it will come.”
and he smiled again.
then he started complaining about the cab rates, how he paid almost double due to peak hour n ERPs…
then the bus came, flagged for him, put his hand on my shoulder and guided him to the bus entrance.
-
as I sat there and looked at him seated down in the bus,
I’m thankful for being able to see,
for having legs to walk,
for having money to pay for my cab ride.
-
With what you have, will you go the extra mile to help others?
Be Bless
Love,
Amanda
